Singapore Government Agencies warn about crypto carbon credit scam
This is not the first time scammers have used logos of Singapore Government Agencies to make their fraud look genuine.

Government Agencies in Singapore are warning that scammers are sending out emails and text messages to the public asking them to add a crypto address and pay money for trading carbon credits.
The victims of the scam then receive emails with login details and a certificate (like the one above, which was posted by the Ministry for National Development on its Facebook page). The certificate includes the logos of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), Ministry of National Development (MND), Ministry of Transport (MOT), Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The emails also include links to a website and to download an app.
On 26 June 2025, MSE made the following announcement:
Scam advisory

26 June 2025
The purported scam misuses Government agency logos to mislead users into signing up for a crypto address and depositing funds for trading carbon credits.
MSE would like to alert the public to a scam involving the misuse of MSE's logo. Individuals would be asked to add a crypto address and deposit funds for trading carbon credits. They will receive emails containing login credentials and a certificate bearing the logos of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), Ministry of National Development (MND), Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), along with links to download an app and access a website.
This is a scam. MSE, MND, MOT and MTI are not affiliated with any such carbon credit trading applications. If you receive such invitation emails and would like to verify its authenticity, please call the MSE hotline at 1800-738-4622. If you are a victim of such a scam, please file a police report.
This is not the first time similar scams have taken place.
Almost exactly one year ago, on 23 June 2024, MSE, NEA, and the MND made the following announcement:
Scam advisory

They will also receive a separate email with links to a confirmation page, bearing the logos of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), Ministry of National Development (MND) and the National Environment Agency (NEA). Upon registration on the mobile application, the individual will be asked to key in their personal banking details for payment.

The following alert is posted on GenZero’s website — suggesting that similar scams are still taking place:
In August 2024, MSE put out a similar warning. Back then, scammers were impersonating Climate Impact X, a carbon credit exchange, and sending emails with a link to a website that included the logos of MSE and other government agencies. MSE’s warning stated that,
MSE is not linked to this scheme and a police report has been filed. Please disregard such invitations and call the Singapore Police Force’s anti-scam helpline at 1800-722-6688 for assistance.
