Last week, REDD-Monitor wrote a post about Kanaka Management Services’ REDD project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The post featured a letter from a group of NGOs working in the country to Eva Bazaiba, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development. The letter requests Bazaiba’s immediate intervention regarding the “illegal actions of Kanaka Management Services” in its proposed REDD project, which covers a total of more than 72 million hectares in six provinces of DRC. According to KMS, the project would generate 1.5 billion carbon credits per year.
